First grade co-coach Adam McPhail said training at O’Connor Park started at 6pm and was encouraging players to attend.
“We really think that with the talent we have locally here in town, we can go a long way in the competition this year. We just need to get everyone there.”
McPhail said the pre-season training wouldn’t start with a punishing pace.
“We have a schedule made up and will be easing into it, increasing as we go,” he said.
McPhail said two trial games were being lined up for the Strikers to help build match fitness and prepare structures but the club is awaiting final confirmation of the matches.
The womens’ team will start pre-season training on January 29.
