Cootamundra hosted the Wagga team for their reconciliation round at Les Boyd Oval last weekend.
Thanks to Abbey Platt, the Bullettes scored the first try before the Brothers responded with two before half-time.
With wins over SouthCity, Gundagai and Wagga Kangaroos, co-coach Kristen Byrne believes the Bullettes have what it takes to feature at the end of the season.
Byrne said they had started well with a 64 point win over Gundagai which she credited to momentum built over the off- and pre-seasons.
“We started pre-season in February, the earliest we’d ever started and a few of us played a full season of touch,” she said.
Bryne said the six point loss to the Brothers was closest the team had come to beating the Wagga side so far.
“Everyone was really happy about how we played against Brothers,” Byrne said.
The Bullettes play Junee this weekend and while the Dieselettes haven’t won a single game this year. Byrne wasn’t counting on victory yet.
“Everyone has stepped up a notch this season,” she said.
Byrne said with how close the competition is, it was important for the Bullettes to score as many points as possible to aid the for-and-agaisnt rank ahead of finals.
“We’re coming off a loss and we need to be consistent, we’re trying to work on the little things and we need to stay confident,” she said.
Improving their game is important but Byrne said it was still vital for the team to enjoy themselves.
During the match against Brothers, Byrne said she had been impressed by Abbey Platt who scored the first try.
“She has been our consistent try-scored through the season,” she said.
“Laura Miller had a really strong game and Renae Glanville is always consistent, she’s our full-back and our life-saver. She’s always ready to tag players who break through.”
