Cootamundra Blues weekend preview

Mick first got his taste of Australian Football every Sunday morning with Auskick down at Clarke Oval. In 2014, Mick became the first Auskicker to play 100 matches.

In the tender age of 15, Mick debuted with the Blues in 2007.

Equally, at home on the halfback flank or in the centre, Mick has made a strong contribution to the Coota Blues following in the footsteps of his father Rod.

 Michael Knagge certainly made his mark in 2012 as a footballer.

In 2012, his sixth season with the Blues, Knagge finished third in the Blues Best & Fairest just 10 votes behind the runner up Dylan McDermott.

Mick played his 100th match in 2014 and his career highlight was being a member of the Blues premiership side 2014.

To further his football development, Michael played with Ganmain Grong Grong Matong in 2017.

Returning to the Blues in 2018 is Mick’s 11th season with the Blues.

In a very elite field, Mick joins his Rod who played 221 matches for the Blues. 

The only other father and sons to play 150 matches or more are Max and Greg Rudd and Ron and Brent Milthorpe. Max who was an inaugural member of the club played 150 matches, while Greg played 254 matches. Ron Milthorpe played 150 matches while Brent played 257 matches.

THIS Saturday is the Blues’ MND fundraising day at Clarke Oval. 

Last year the Blues raised just over $4000 for former Blues player Adam Barnes who has MS. Adam will depart for Russia in July for life saving treatment.

Gates open 10.30am, ice bucket challenge at 1.30pm.
