Visiting Ainslie proved too strong for the men, winning by 26 points, 9.9 (63) to 5.7 (37).
The Blues failed to kick a first-quarter goal for the second consecutive match, with Ainslie leading at the first change by 11 points.
The Blues played their best footy in the second quarter, booting two goals to Ainslie’s 1.3. At the long break, Ainslie led by eight points.
With the weather clearing in the third and fourth quarter, Ainslie booted six goals to three to run out comfortable winners.
Ainslie showed they are better side than last season, when they finished last in division 3.
A number of Blues footballers stood up in the trying conditions, including Zac Oliver, Luke Webb and Jimmy Finucane.
The Blues' 150th gamer, Mick Knagge, played his best match of the season, gaining plenty of ball, while down back Stephen Chant was at his best.

Next Saturday, the Blues will travel to Kingston Oval to take on winless Eastlake. The Blues should break a three-match losing streak.
WOMEN WIN
The women’s side recorded their best win since entering AFL Canberra, defeating Ainslie by 41 points 9.5 (59) to 2.6 (18).
The Blues were fast out of the blocks, booting five goals to one in the opening quarter.
From there, they maintained the pressure on their more fancied opponents.
The Blues were relentless, allowing Ainslie just one goal after half-time.
The Blues win was made more impressive by the fact they lost Sienna Bloor during the first quarter with an ankle sprain.
It was the side’s second win for the season. With another win on a forfeit against Belconnen, they are an outside chance of playing finals.

The women have the bye this Saturday, but will play ANU at home on July 30.
