While Eastlake is yet to win a match, they have been very competitive in most of their matches and last Saturday they were only beaten by Googong by a goal after leading for the majority of the match.
The Blues will be understrength for Saturday’s match, with Cameron Shillingsworth returning to Wentworth, while Mick Palmer and Brandon Sanderson both unavailable.
Making their debut on Saturday is former Leeton junior footballer Will Ormond.
The youngster has impressed at training and will be a valuable asset for the Blues for the remainder of the season.
Also available is Tom Butt who shone in his AFL debut to weeks ago against Googong.
Two players that stood out in Saturday’s loss were Mick Knagge and Stephen Chant. Both players have been a bit down on form; however, the experienced pair was in the Blues best against Ainslie.
Between them, the 2014 premiership players have now played 338 matches; Chant leads the way with 187 matches in the dark navy blue, while Knagge have played 151 matches.
Saturday is round nine of the competition, which is the half way mark. The front-runners are Molonglo who are undefeated.
The other challenges come September appear to be ADFA, Woden, Batemans Bay and of course Ainslie would have to fancy their chances too.
Cootamundra are 2/6 and are currently in eighth spot.
While not all is lost for a final’s berth, in the remaining ten matches, they would probably have to win at least eight matches and hope a number of results go their way.

LAST Saturday’s fundraising for MND really shows that the people of Cootamundra and surrounds really dig deep for a worthy cause.
While early estimates for the amount raised are $6500, that figure could reach close to $7000 with a number of donations coming since Saturday’s fundraiser.
