Cootamundra Development Corporation is hosting the Wattle Time Fair on August 25.
As well as the traditional parade, there’s a show and shine and Southern Cross Mobile Mechanics will be providing a different kind of entertainment.
Five volunteers will be participating in a charity quick shear, with all proceeds going towards Can Assist.
One of the volunteers, Jamin White, prefers to grow his hair a little longer than most. So far this year, he's had one hair cut and was a bit reluctant to face the razor for the second time.
“There was plenty of peer pressure from the boys to join in,” Mr White said.
Co-owner Sheree Webber said the suggestion to give something back to the community came from Jason Turner.
“We had such huge support from the community when we opened the shed and we thought we should do something in return,” Mrs Webber said.
“We’re hoping to put on a show for everyone at the Wattle Time Fair.”
The shearers will include three hairdressers and two shearers going head to head to get the job done.
Keeping an eye on the whole process will be farmer Justin Roberts who will act as master of ceremonies and will be holding the timer.
“We want to see who does the better job and who’s the quickest,” Mrs Webber said.
“It will be a proper quick shear with the hair to go into a wool bag and will be weighed. The five wool bags will have a prize in each and be auctioned on the day.”
Wattle Time includes exhibitions like Florabundance, market days and more.
“Watch the town turn yellow for the month of August with all the local businesses getting involved,” CDC chairman John Stephens said.
Last year, 3000 people gathered for the fair which includes the parade and 80 market stalls at Fisher Park, Mr Stephens said preparations were on track to be bigger for 2018.
“We are thrilled with the response we have received so far,” Mr Stephens said.
“It is an opportunity to showcase all the wonderful things that Cootamundra and the surrounding region has to offer.”
Mr Stephens said anyone interested in holding a stall at Fisher Park on August 25 should contact the Cootamundra Development Corporation on 6942 1400
