Ex Services Bowls
The men’s triples final has been run and won for 2018. Wayne (Rocky) Ford, Paul Cockram and Graeme Snape were up against Jason Jones, Geoff (Bloopy) Manwaring and Jim White who got off to a good start to lead 12-5 after the completion of 11 ends. Graeme and team narrowed the score to 12-10 but unfortunately their run came to an end with Jason, Bloopy and Jim going on to claim the title with a 27-10 win.

Mixed Pairs:
The first pair to secure a place in the final are Wendy Deacon and Henry Wilson with a comprehensive 23-10 win against Bev Black and Greg Fisher.
The second semi saw Neil Blackett and Lee Bristow play Lorraine Evelyn and Terry Smith. Neil and Lee held a slim lead from start, but were caught on the second last end to leave the core 15-15. The last end had Lorraine and Terry holding three shots. Neil played a great bowl with the last bowl of the game but just missed taking all three shots out to concede one shot, with the final score being 16-15 in Lorraine and Terry’s favour.
Social bowls:
Wednesdays play consisted of two games of triples, with J Huntington, Rocky and G Hillier collecting the snags 25-15 against K. Hampton, G. Bushell and T. McDonald, while J Jones, A Small and R Hillier had a comfortable 28-20 win over G Snape, P O’Brien and J Cook.
Friday:
Bloopy and J White were 26-19 winners against P Cockram and J Cook. J Jones, J Huntington and P O’Brien were narrow 18-17 winners over O. Lopez, G Snape and G. Hillier. G Bushell, Rocky and Froggy finished second to R Hillier, M Andrews and A Small 21-17, while S Leggett and Pickles had a 24-17 win over P Harriott and The Duck.
Sunday:
T McDonald and M Willis defeated P O’Brien and J Goggin. K Hampton and Pickles outclassed O Lopez and Bloopy, while P Cockram, A Small and the Duck far too good for S Leggett, G Bushell and Grumpy.
Country Club Women
Last Tuesday saw Jan Roberts, Ellenor Armstrong, Jenny Blundell and Jean Bushell play at Junee Services Club.
Social last Thursday involved one game each of pairs and consistency. In the pairs, Diana Buchanan and Jean Bushell were too good for Jan Roberts and Jenny Blundell, whilst the consistency play with Betty Cleveland, Mona Perry and Viv Christie, was won by Viv.
On Friday, the 2018 Club Triples Championships final was played between Neta Manwaring, Viv Christie and Mona Perry against Jan Slavin, Betty Cleveland and Kerry Byrne. At the 11th and 16th ends, scores were even, but the 17th end saw Jan, Betty and Kerry two shots ahead. Neta, Viv and Mona came from behind in the final end to win the championship by three shots.
