Club president Mark Lake said there has been a big increase in participation numbers since registrations started in October.
“We currently have 84 registered swimmers aged from 5-16 years old with swimmers coming from Cootamundra and surrounding villages,” Mr Lake said.
Training nights are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday between 5-7pm. Thursday is club night at 6pm.
“Club nights are an opportunity for swimmers to get used to a racing environment and achieving personal best times for the stroke they participate in,” Mr Lake said.
The club participates in South West Zone swim meets, part of Southern Inland Swimming Association.
“It’s great to see so many children and families here enjoying swim club,” he said.
“Tonight we saw more than 45 swimmers participate and several personal best times achieved.”
Mr Lake stressed the club is not a learn to swim program, “Participants must already be able to swim,” he said.
The club’s head coach is Adam Gammon assisted by Charmaine Derrick, Maddie Sedgwick, Corrin Lake, Debra Cram, Sue Parkinson, Mark Lake and Leearn Sedgwick.
Abbey Gammon was named club captain for the season and was presented the club captaincy pin by life member Sue Parkinson.
“Abbey has been a member of the Cootamundra Swimming Club for many years and I have no doubt she will be a fabulous leader for the Club,” Mr Lake said.
The club is still taking registrations for season 2018/19. See their facebook page for more information.
