Playgrounds at Gundagai Public School and Stockinbingal’s King George Park have had soft fall surfaces installed around and under the equipment.
Made from recycled tyre rubber, the specially designed surface does not completely eradicate the risk of injury, but will cushion a child’s head and neck in the event of a fall.
King George Park has also had new playground equipment installed that will cater to children of all ages and abilities.
Cootamundra-Gundagai mayor Abb McAllister said: “It’s great to see and hear children enjoying the facilities council provides, we want to ensure that we make them as safe as possible, the installation of soft fall material helps minimise impact injuries.”
The project at the Gundagai Public School was jointly managed by the council and the school’s parents’ and citizens’ association.
