The market consisted of 1894 lambs, 183 hoggets, and 613 mutton sheep.
The quality of the market overall was fairly good with good lead pens from all agents in most lines, although some lighter mutton are showing signs of the extreme heat conditions that have prevailed over the last couple of weeks.
A good field of buyers were on the rail, and they operated in a market that held the good prices of the previous sale over all categories. The agents quoted the market fully firm with solid results achieved.
There was some restocker interest especially on the lighter lambs, although there was some sold to return to the paddock for over $120.
Top price, and for the third sale in a row, went to Irene Morton of “Stockdale” Coolac with a pen of XB Lambs making $180.
With an estimated CW of 26kg and a small $3 coat they came back at $6.85kg CW. These lambs went to Southern Meats Goulburn on a knock call.
Most three to four score lambs were in the $6.30 to $ 6.90kg CW.
There was some very good lines of heavier mutton presented and once again they were keenly sought after by a number of processors, and prices topped out at $138.00 for ewe and wether mutton.
They ranged in the $4.40 to $4.55kg CW. These prices were up $5 on the previous sale.
Hoggets are still in demand with the top price of $130 to average $89.
