As summer winds up, Cootamundra has fallen some 25mm short of the town's average rainfall for the season, the majority of this shortfall being in the last month.
December and January were in fact wetter than average; 57.5mm in December compared to the average of 52.4mm and in January total rainfall of 49.4mm compared to 41.7mm.
February however has not been kind to farmers or avid gardeners with just 21.7mm measured in the gauge at the Cootamundra Airport, compared to the average of 57.3mm.
Storms have been variable across the region, with up to 200mm falling on some properties just out of town in mid-February while other nearby properties received little to no rain out of the same event.
Cootamundra's hottest summer day came on January 17 with the mercury spiking at 43.6 degrees, while the coolest night was February 14 when the temperature dipped to 5.9 degrees.
