Spokesperson Julianne Collingridge says the group only needs one more legal detail to be clarified before it will be able to announce the garden's location.
"We have a healthy budget after getting a grant from the Stronger Communities Fund, and we hope to include lots of shared raised garden beds on a rotation system, water tank, a social area including barbecue facilities and a pizza oven, a children's area, garden shed and potting area, shade structures, lighting and security and, of course, chickens," she said.
"We'd like people's ideas for anything they think should be included, and what gardening-related activities should be offered.
"There'll also be an opportunity for businesses to become sponsors.
"If you have any ideas and would like to be a part of the garden, please email us at cootawattlebirds@gmail.com."
