Focus on senior citizens
Before the present Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Councillors (CGRC) were elected, they made a number of promises that if elected they would be more sympathetic to our problems, including those faced by our elderly residents - our pensioners.

It has been almost 30 years since the pensioner rebate has had an increase despite the escalating cost of living.
A number of councillors did come over to Gundagai earlier in the year and enjoyed a cuppa tea with our elderly citizens and discussed a range of issues.
They were very sympathetic to their concerns. However, that's as far as it went. Apparently it was all just empty rhetoric.
I noticed where the Wagga Council just recently increased the water rebate for pensioners to $120.
So, wouldn't it be great if our CGRC councillors shrugged off their "I'm alright Jack" attitude and at least try to do something positive for the forgotten citizens in our community.
Money doesn't appear to be a problem because our ratepayers have had to forked out around $190,000 for two general managers over the past five months or so and, not to mention a number of other expensive financial blunders that our councillors have stumbled into.
So come on fellas, forget about yourselves for once and concentrate on those who need it most - our pensioners and our other low income earners who are really doing it tough.

Greatest 'hoax' rolls on
I'm not a "climate denier", I'm just a sceptic of the current crop of voodoo science that blames everything from tsunamis in the Pacific or the drying of the Yangtze to my use of power tools generated by the odd coal-fired power station somewhere in Australia.
I'm sorry, but when I first started believing in global warming in the 1990s, assured by people such as Tim Flannery that sea levels were going up and dams would soon be deserts, it all seemed so evidential; but the opposite has happened and even Tim has bought himself a nice little pad on the doomed beach at Bondi.
Where does that leave me and my early beliefs? When we all realise that not one scientific report has linked human activity as a significant causal effect to whatever the current, faddish and multiple definitions of what "climate change" involves, then the closer we'll be to a realisation of what it might really be - or if it exists at all.
That word "causal' is the crucial one and the one that is missing in all of the data: no study has ever suggested that humans "cause" climate change.
A dozen new coal-fired power stations or a dozen Adani mines suddenly springing up in Australia (not that we'll ever see that, even as much as we'd love to!) would thus have zero "causal" impact on the earth's climate.
Alternatively, if Australia closed up shop completely and we all went to live in igloos, it would change the weather not one whit - climate change is the greatest political and economic hoax since Tulipomania (just google it) and anyone who uses the words "climate change" in whatever ludicrous political agenda they are pushing is taken as being serious when, in fact, they are simply being illogical ecological dullards.
And I still want to know what happened to the catastrophic 1990s "hole in the ozone layer" that foretold our imminent doom - did it just get better?
