The score was equal on four occasion, 8-, 22-, 24- and 27-all, but John kept Jim scoreless for the next few ends and went on to win 31-27.
He now plays Jim Deacon for a chance to play in the final.
Major Pairs
Peter Hoang and John Goggin were in control of their game, winning 26-11 against Geoff Hillier and Jeff Cook, securing a semi-final spot. They now play Kim Frog Roberts and Mick Willis.
Social bowls
Wednesday June 19 saw two games of triples and a game of pairs.
Rocky Ford, Rob Hillier and Pat O'Brien had to come from 16-14 down after 15 ends but held on to defeat Paul Cockram, Charlie Willis and Duck O'Neil 22-18.
Jeff Withers, J. Kelly and John Huntington shot out to a great 23-13 lead at the completion of 15 ends and looked to be cruising, but their opposition Mick Newham, Gill Kelly and Jason Jones never gave up, going down by just 26-25.
The pairs game was also a close encounter.
Oscar Lopez combined with Jim White to fight off a great challenge from Ginger O'Brien and Craig Jordan and went on to win 21-18.
On Friday June 21 Jason Jones, Bruce Gillies and Terry McDonald defeated Peter Hoang, Ginger O'Brien and Geoff Hillier 17-10, while Oscar Lopez, Graeme Snape and Craig Jordan had a 24-18 win against Jeff Withers, Keith Hampton and Pickles Bradley.
Sunday June 23 Oscar Lopez, Don Duck O'Neil and Jim Deacon just got over the line defeating Bill Cosgrove, Paul Cockram and Rod Pickles Bradley 19-18.
Neil Blackett, Geoff Manwaring and Jim White were too strong for Henry Wilson, Craig Jordan and Kim Frog Roberts, while Keith Hampton, Graeme Snape and Bob New defeated Ginger O'Brien, Tony Curtis and Mick Willis 20-18. Great to see Bruce Gillies on the green again after a long absence.
