The Tri Colours are set to clash with arch rivals Harden Devils

Last year's premier Harden travels to Cootamundra to take on this year's minor premiers the Cootamundra Tri Colours.

The two sides have met three times this year with Cootamundra winning each; 31-5, 34-27 and the major semi-final 36-19.

Cootamundra is undefeated for the season and does not want to end with a loss.

The Harden Devils tested the Tri Colours at each meeting, taking early leads in both the last round and the recent semi-final.

But grand final day is a whole new ball game. Season form counts for little as the victory comes down to who turns up with the right attitude and who wants it more.

The Cootamundra Tri Colours came together in November last year and a number of summer sessions took place before officially starting pre-season in late January.

Since then they have put in the hard yards every Tuesday and Thursday night, in the rain, the fog and frost; a group with a blend of new, old, youth and experience.

In season 2019 club stalwarts Greg Morton, Bobby Scott, Isaac Mitchell, Micheal Purtell and Alex Hardie were joined by some fresh faces.

The arrival of rugby league veteran Aaron Byrne, Queanbeyan Rugby's Cameron Stanley and former Southern Inland rep Angus Forster have been influential in the side's improvement.

All the players, especially powerhouse imports Daryl Hemapo and Pita Herangi, have seen the side play a style of rugby that's engrossed club supporters all year.

Head coach Mark Elia and assistants Mitch Wakeford and Cameron Stanley have continually challenged the side.

The team's focus on game days has been to work hard and be patient.

Regardless of the coaching philosophy, credit goes to the playing group who has turned up week after week focused and keen to learn.

Kick off is 2:30pm, Saturday August 10 at Les Boyd Oval and by 4.15pm Cootamundra Tri Colours players, staff and supporters will know if all the hard work's paid off.
