A new RASF collaboration with Good360, along with donations from 'Thank A Farmer Day' at the 2019 Sydney Royal Easter Show, saw 31 deserving Show Societies share in 33 pallets of kitchenware generously donated by Rockpool Dining Group, plus kitchen goods and toys with a total value just over $600,000.
RAS Foundation Manager, Cecilia Logan, said the goods sourced by Good360, including a top up by Trenton International, are a welcome boost for local Show Societies, and community groups, long recognised as the very heart of regional communities throughout NSW.
"We believe the goods will enhance these spaces and allow locals to come together at great local events supporting their communities," Ms Logan said.
"We recognise how vital these spaces are for small communities and understand the difficulty of raising money for local projects, and that is where the Good360 initiative can be so helpful.
"Making these goods available for our regional and rural communities gives them extra resources which are often incredibly difficult to come by in areas still affected by drought.
"The RAS Foundation is proud to partner with Good360 and share these goods with deserving regional towns.
"Good360 is in the business of connecting surplus with need and their support is helping us to build strong and vibrant communities.
"The generosity of Trenton International was also a boost and we are incredibly grateful for their support as well."
Geoff Bush from Cootamundra, who collected the goods from Sydney, said the packages will lift community spirits.
"People out in the country really appreciate how much these goods give back to the community, and the amount of organisation that goes into it," Mr Bush said.
"Last year we were lucky enough to receive goods from the RAS Foundation, and utilise these for the drought appeal.
"The packages were given to farming families who are doing it tough and we aim to do something similar this year."
The toys and kitchenware, distributed from Sydney and Dubbo Showgrounds, were collected by exceptionally thankful volunteers from the Societies, eager to get them back to their communities and start planning for events and celebrating their early Christmas windfall.
