A Nissan Skyline GT-R took out two new records at the Cootamundra Runway Thrash on Saturday, reaching 294.3 km/h in 8.22 seconds.

Organisers were delighted with the new launch pad surface at the runway put in by Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council and funded through the NSW government's Stronger communities Fund.
The 70-metre strip of asphalt completed at the airport last month was made from the same product used in other motorsport tracks such as Mount Panorama in Bathurst.
Founder Andrew Hawkins said the new surface - "where the magic happens" - enabled most of the weekend's 83 cars to achieve personal bests by a couple of tenths of a second at least.
"We had a lot of cars run single digit passes (making the standing quarter mile in under 10 seconds), which is incredible for a street based surface," Mr Hawkins said.
"It took about a half a day for the new surface to rubber down and get warm, but by Friday afternoon it was totally transformed so our new hashtag for the weekend is 'Australia's quickest runway'.
Mr Hawkins said he was pleased with the turn-up of local car enthusiasts at the show 'n shine on Friday night, considering it had been "a bit last-minute".
"It was a good little first go before we try and increase the size of it. There's talk of putting it the main street next time," he said.
The next event will be the GTR Challenge and Drag Battle in April, which is by invitation only and more serious than the Runway Thrash, intended as "a relaxed event to let people get as many runs as they can and have a good time".
