Shine is a hands-on, fun program for girls to develop an understanding of their own personal worth, strength and purpose and to realise the potential within to fulfil their desires and dreams.
The girls, all from Year 8 at Cootamundra High, learn practical skills, how to look after themselves, with the message that "I am one of a kind and worth taking care of".
A network of local women in business volunteer their time to teach the girls about how best to look after their skin, hair and nails, how to dress appropriately for different occasions, how to apply makeup and how to engage in positive relationships.
The girls learn ways to build inner strength and explore healthy living, friendships, dreams and how to achieve their goals.
The team thanked Alyssa from Hair Design, Sally from Country House Day Spa, Belinda Squire, Jamie and Tracey from Jak + Jill, Amy and the girls from Pazzaz Hair Studio and Jessica Grace (pictured above, rear) for their help this year. Also Marg Somers and Chris Leahy who generously gave their time each week, Manna Scott for helping wherever needed and Mariette Hanekom, the driving force behind the program since its inception.
