A partnership between the Mint and Australia Post has seen 26 different $1 coin designs created, showcasing Australian life from A to Z as part of the Great Aussie Coin Hunt.
The coins can be found at Australia Post stores across the country and can be collected by coin aficionados after making a purchase at the post office, with the coin hidden in their loose change.
Among the Australian items on display on the coins are footy, surf life saving, cricket, kangaroos and quokkas, with the Australian town of Xantippe making up the letter X and Zooper Doopers for letter Z.
The first six coins in the collection of 26 was released on Monday, with new coins released each Monday until October 21.
Australia Post general manager of community and consumer, Nicole Sheffield, said the new lot of coins would be a prized addition for collectors across the country.
"Not only will it be really exciting to hunt for all the coins and build an amazing collection, but each and every coin opens up the opportunity for wonderful conversations about quintessential Australian life," Ms Sheffield said.
"It's a great way for grandparents to connect with grandchildren, and for all of us to share our own experiences and memories with each other."
