THEY say a change is as good as a holiday, but that is not exactly what Josh Black was thinking when he opened his new business last year.

What Josh was aiming to do was continuing providing an important industry presence in Cootamundra.
The change was making the most of an opportunity to become a small business owner, after taking over and building on the success of an established concern.
"I've been operating 12 months as Blackie's Power Equipment," Josh said.
"The previous business was Mowall Engineering and that was operating well over 40 years.
"As the previous owner was ready to retire and at that stage Cootamundra had only one power equipment store, I thought it would be a great opportunity to give the business a facelift and put a bit of life back into it."
Blackie's Power Equipment can provide sales, service and repairs on:

- Holman hoses and garden supplies
"We are able to provide a wide range of power equipment brands, service and repairs," Josh said.
"There are a lot of great people in this town and they are a pleasure to deal with.
"As we provide back-up service with our products, we can provide information or expertise on what equipment would suit your needs, or provide demos of products.
"It is important to find the right product that suits your needs. There are always different ways that products can be used or different tricks on how to start, service, store or even operate correctly.
Blackie's now employs three staff, including Josh - in sales, service and spare parts, a mechanic and apprentice mechanic - although he is hoping to expand that in the future.
Blackie's supports the community through sponsorship of sporting teams, with its employees also involved with sporting and car clubs.
