Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke visited Cootamundra this week to welcome Dr Arshi Lakdawala to the centre.
Dr Lakdawala, who is on a fixed-term contract with the Medical Centre, has temporarily relocated from work in Yass and the ACT in order to serve the Cootamundra community.
"It's wonderful to meet Dr Lakdawala and welcome her to Cootamundra Medical Centre," Ms Cooke said.
"Dr Lakdawala brings a great breadth of experience with her and I am sure will settle in to become a much-cherished part of the community."
"General Practitioners are such an important part of any town or village, and I'm sure that she will make many good friends while practising at here in Cootamundra."
Dr Daniel Fry, Practice Principal at Cootamundra Medical Centre, said the addition of Dr Lakdawala to the team would enhance the effective delivery of medical services at the Centre.
"We are pleased to secure a long-term locum GP at our Practice and we look forward to working alongside Dr Lakdawala, underpinning the excellent services provided by our Doctors and staff, to our community," Dr Fry said.
"We hope the community will support her practice and welcome her into Cootamundra."
Ms Cooke said the Medical Centre had worked hard to secure Dr Lakdawala's services.
"I'm delighted that Dr Fry and his team have been able to bring such an experienced medical professional as Dr Lakdawala to Cootamundra."
