Popularly know as Mherv the van will be located outside the Westpac Bank in Parker Street on Sunday, October 27 from 10am to 4pm and on Monday, October 28 from 10am to 5pm.
"Wattle" it be boys, a health check up now or a nasty surprise for your family later?
The free health checks, a Rotary initiative, include a check of your blood pressure, blood sugar levels and a cholesterol check.
The mherv project was set up by Rotary District 9670 and is managed and directed by volunteer Rotarians who give freely of their time and expertise.
It has shown by results that there is a need to test rural men for health issues.
The difficulty is that high blood pressure, high blood sugar and cholesterol levels have little or no symptoms.
Many men, particularly in rural and regional areas assume that if there's no (apparent) issue, they have no need of a doctor's healing skills! (If it ain't broke... don't fix it!).
Too often they simply drop dead in the paddock, because nobody saw it coming!.. the mherv project with the support of hundreds of Rotary volunteers is saving lives.
While the mherv service is targeted at rural and regional men, the van doesn't turn away any women who ask for a checkup.
