Lieutenant Michael Hindle of The Salvation Army Cootamundra-Young branch is urging people to provide toys and Woolworths gift cards for those in need this Christmas.
"Through Christmas time we're asking people to donate new toys or gifts for children to give to families in need or who don't have the finances to buy gifts for their kids, or can't source those presents," Mr Hindle said.
"At Christmas, the Salvos will serve more than 100,000 meals, distribute more than 500,000 gifts and toys and support more than 70,000 families in need.
"We can only do this with the support of the public," Lts Michael and Katrina Hindle said.
The Salvos will host a Christmas Eve service in Cootamundra at 7pm at 74 Hovell Street.
If you require assistance at Christmas with food and gifts please call (02) 6382 5252.
"Whether you are by yourself, or with friends and family, Christmas is a time that is best spent together, so join us, so we can share the true spirit of Christmas," the Lts said.
Your donation means that the Salvos can offer:
- shelter to people with nowhere to sleep,
- gifts for kids who would otherwise get none,
- hampers for people struggling to afford basic meals.
