A letter from chairperson Jim Main dated October 8 says that over the coming months Cootamundra Nursing Home's name will change to Adina House, paying homage to the home's strong connection with the Adina Court independent living village nearby.
"The decision is part of an overall rebrand which will see the introduction of a vibrant new logo and brand identity for the organisation," Mr Main's letter said.
"We are confident the transition will be seamless and will enable us to continue to forge a strong reputation within the community.
"We want to ensure our organisation is viewed as more than just an aged care facility, but a warm and welcoming community where our residents can feel at home while receiving the level of care they require.
"While our name may be changing, please be assured there will be no changes or disruptions to any of your daily activities and we will still be delivering the same high quality care as always.
"We understand this is quite a significant change, and we welcome your feedback as the project progresses, but ultimately we hop you are as excited as us about the future of the organisation."
The home is conducted by the Cootamundra Health Care Co-operative Limited, a not-for-profit organisation.
Mrs Miriam Curtis, a visitor to the home, said seven residents had suggested to her that Mr Main's letter be more widely publicised.
"The letter was distributed only to residents," Mrs Curtis said. "I think the term 'nursing home' isn't popular these days, but that's not the point - the town raised a lot of money for the home and I think it should be put before the town to see what they say."
One suggested name change she thought was "brilliant" was "Cootamundra Lodge Aged Care Facility".
"The home is still repaying a loan from the bank. They say the name change isn't going to cost money but surely it will."
