The game was close early, with the score equal at six-all after 10 ends. McDonald and Deacon snuck away to lead 15-9 with four ends to play, but Hoang and Goggin won the next three ends to go into the last end one shot in arrears, 14-15.
McDonald and Deacon held on to take the game, and title, 16-14.
Thirty-eight players took to the green for the Coota Hospital Auxiliary Charity Day. The winners Sara and Oscar Lopez, with their skip Paul Cockram, were drawn from a hat. Second went to Colleen and Roger Goode and Geoff Manwaring. The spider was won by Bob New. The event raised $700.
On Wednesday, November 13 Ginger O'Brien and Peter Hoang collected the sausages, defeating Jason Jones and Craig Jordan 25-23. Oscar Lopez and Ron Rosengreen defeated Ned Kelly and Pickles Bradley 22-17, while Charlie Willis, D. Schofield and Jeff Cook accounted for Rob Hillier, Paul Cockram and Jim White 22-20. Mark Devere, Duck O'Neil and Brad Lange defeated Steve Stanton, Geoff Hillier and Graeme Dennis 20-14.
On Friday, November 15 Rocky Ford and Keith Hampton defeated Ashley Cooper and Ned Kelly 23-19, while Graeme Dennis, Bloopy Manwaring and Geoff Hillier proved too good for Oscar Lopez, Henry Wilson and Craig Jordan, winning 18-11.
COUNTRY CLUB WOMEN
The monthly Queen of the Green event was held on Thursday, November 14. Jan Slavin defeated Ellenor Armstrong in a close match, while Betty Cleveland defeated Jan Roberts.
After calculations, Cleveland was declared Queen of the Green for November.
Diana Buchanan, Neta Manwaring and Marsha Phillips played a game of consistency with Buchanan the runaway winner. The final Crazy Whist afternoon will be held on Thursday, November 21.
Everyone is welcome for a fun afternoon starting at 2.30pm. Cost: $5 (includes afternoon tea).
The mixed presentation night will be held on Saturday, December 7 at 6.30pm for 7pm, cost $25.
