A cracking swim from the Cootamundra Swimming Lifesaving Club's under 16 relay team was a highlight of the opening carnival of the 2019-20 swim season at Yass last weekend.

On Sunday, November 24, Cootamundra Swimming Lifesaving Club took a team of 46 Swimmers to there first South West Zone Qualifying Swim Meet held at Yass Memorial Pool.
This was a huge effort considering the club has 80 members.
This was the first time Yass Swim Club had held a swim meet in the last 10 years.
Cootamundra was represented extremely well where all swimmers participated in 25m, 50m and 100m events in various strokes, achieving good results all round with several personal best times achieved.
Cootamundra swimmers also walked away with medals and ribbons for coming first, second or third in their various age groups and divisions they were seeded in for that meet.
Cootamundra had a number of boys and girls participating in the Under 16's freestyle relay teams.
The Cootamundra Girls Under 16, Freestyle relay team made up of Macey Leahy, Evie Leahy, Madeleine Brown and Lucy SMIRL swam at a cracking pace winning the Gwen Nicholson Shield for season 2019.
The last time Cootamundra Swim Club won this shield was 21 years ago.
This weekend on Sunday, December 1, 2019 Cootamundra Swim Club travel to Junee with another strong team of 45 Swimmers.
Swim Club trains on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday Night at the Cootamundra outdoor and indoor pool.
