A 36-year-old Cootamundra woman stopped on the Hume Highway at Gundagai at 7.30 on Saturday evening returned a positive result to a prohibited drug.

After a secondary test which returned a positive result to a prohibited drug the woman was issued with a notice prohibiting her from driving for 24 hours.
At 12:09am on Sunday the woman was again stopped by police at Cowcumbla Street Cootamundra driving a car. She was again tested and again returned a positive result to a prohibited drug.
More than 1,000 random breath tests were made in the Riverina police district, of which Cootamundra is a part, last weekend during a two-day traffic blitz code named Operation Chrome.
The operation resulted in 29 infringement notices being issued and two people being arrested for traffic offences.
Statistics provided by police yesterday include: 1007 random breath tests, 30 random drug tests, five person searches.
