After batting first and managing just 51 runs setting Young just 52 for victory the Cockatoos somehow managed to restrict the scoring of the Young side to come away with the win.
Ethan Shepherd found his way back to the pavilion for a duck before the scoreboard attendant was called on.
Blake Sloan and Lachlan Webb went about setting some sort of platform for the Cootamundra boys before Webb found his way back to the sheds, but not before contributing 19 runs to the total off just 23 deliveries, including four fours.
Jed Guthrie made a brief appearance at the crease before he was out for three.
Blake Sloan joined him shortly after for just five off 30 deliveries.
Michael Perry made six before he was out caught, Sam Naser was out for four.
Koby Godbier was bowled by Donges for a duck and James Patterson remained not out 0.
Young too struggled with the bat, losing opener Daniel Smith for six with the score on just seven.
The Young boys then looked to be on target and had progressed the score along to 38 before a dramatic collapse.
Ethan Birks was the next to go, out for seven with the score on 38 before Cockatoos turned the screws orchestrating their version of the great escape.
Young then lost the wickets of Sam Smith, Declan Hurcum, Tyler Hurcum and Jack Donges for the addition of just the three runs.
Kurt Godbier and Sam Nasser were the leading wicket takers for Cootamundra, Godbier finishing his three overs with the figures of 2/6 and Nasser sending down four overs for the figures of 2/15.
Other wicket takers were Ethan Shepherd 1/2 off three overs and Luke Webb 1/4 off 3.4 overs.
Kurt Godbier, Jed Guthrie and Ben Sloan finished the match with catches. Guthrie also had a hand in a run out.
