Cootamundra was advised by phone at 4.30pm on Friday that Wagga were unable to field a side for its trip to Albert Park.

The Cootamundra selectors had worked hard to field a side, only to be let down by the forfeit by the city of good sports.

With the forfeit, Cootamundra is assured of spot in the final against Goulburn on Sunday, February 23.

Under the point-scoring structure, teams receive six points for a win or forfeit, three points for a tie or draw and one point for a loss.

The ladder after round two is: Cootamundra 7, Goulburn 6 and Wagga 0.

The final match in the home and away draw is on January 19, when Wagga will host Goulburn. Should Goulburn win, it will host the final. However, should Wagga defeat Goulburn by a decent margin, Cootamundra could host the final with a higher quotient.

It was not a good day for the Cootamundra teams in the South West Slopes Cricket League, with all three teams losing their matches on Saturday.

In the Delta Agribusiness Cup, the Central Hotel Rams travelled to Alfred Oval in Young to take on the Australian Hotel Coyotes.

The Coyotes, with only nine players, were bowled out in the 39th over for a competitive tally of 154. In reply, Central could only muster 66.

Two players stood out in this match for Coyotes. With the bat, Smithie Goodman made 42, while with the ball Jason Hall captured 6/21 from nine overs.

In the other match, Mimosa forfeited to Young Services Blues.

In the BFB/Blooms Chemist competition, the Cootamundra Ex-Services Magpies travelled to Cranfield Oval to play the Criterion Hotel Gunners.

The Gunners made 125, while the Magpies replied with 112.

Stockinbingal lost a close match against the Shamrock Hotel Leprechauns at Nixon Park.

The Leprechauns made 143, with Stockinbingal getting 110 in reply.

Despite the loss, Stockinbingal remains on top of the competition.

Over the next four rounds - to be played on December 14 and 21, and January 11 and 18 - both competitions will revert to Twenty20 mode.
