Leo was Peter McDermott's granddaughter's pet, and the family's best buddy, a poddy they had raised together "from Day One".
He was attacked some time between 5pm last Wednesday, December 4, and the following day.
The McDermotts live at Warralong Road, and are urging people in the neighbourhood to keep their dogs at home and secure.
