This was revealed at last week's council meeting by the manager of waste, parks and recreation services, Wayne Bennett.
Mr Bennett said the council pumped grey water from the sewage works onto various sites around the town.
"We're flat out trying to keep the dam level (at the Turners Lane sewage works) low enough to stop discharge into the creek," he said.
Mr Bennett was replying to a question from Mayor Abb McAlister as to how the recycled water was standing up after the new irrigation system at the golf course.
His question arose from a proposal put forward by Cr Gil Kelly to irrigate the Hurley Street off-leash dog park.
"It's not well used now because it's just full of bindies and dust," Cr Kelly said. "It's good to encourage people to get out and be active, and is a safe environment for people to bring their dogs to."
His motion for irrigating the dog park to be included in the next budget was passed.
