The new ambulance station at the rear of Cootamundra Hospital will be operational next year, following an announcement today by the State government that it has awarded a tender for the station's construction.
The MP for Cootamundra, Steph Cooke, said the tender had been awarded to Sydney-based construction company, Patterson Building Group, which has recently built new ambulance stations in Bungendore and Goulburn.
"Building is scheduled for completion in early 2021, followed by a fit-out and operational commissioning phase prior to the commencement of operations from the new facility," Ms Cooke said.
The station is being delivered as part of a $122 million Rural Ambulance Infrastructure Reconfiguration (RAIR) program by the NSW Government.
"It is being designed with input from local paramedics, with the goal of delivering a better work environment, tailored for the needs of the local community," Ms Cooke said.
Once completed, it will include internal parking for up to four ambulance vehicles, administration and office areas, staff amenities, logistics and storage areas, relief accommodation, staff parking, a delivery and loading bay and an external wash bay.
Health Infrastructure, NSW Ambulance, the Murrumbidgee Local Health District and the Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council had been working together to deliver the station, Ms Cooke said.
"To date, 24 upgraded, rebuilt or new regional and rural ambulance stations have been announced across NSW, including completed stations at Coolamon, Ardlethan, Harden Murrumburrah, Cowra and Grenfell in our Electorate," she said.
