A MAN has lost his driver's licence after he was allegedly caught travelling at 177km/h on the weekend.

At 2.32pm on Saturday officers attached to the Southern Traffic Group Cootamundra were performing duties as part of Operation Aurora on the Hume Highway at Jugiong.
"A white Mitsubishi was detected travelling at 177km/h in a sign posted 110km/h zone," the NSW Police Traffic and Highway Patrol Command said.

The driver was stopped and spoken to by police officers and then issued an infringement for travelling over 45kph above the limit. The fine for this offence is $2482.
His driving privileges in NSW were suspended for a period of six months.
Neither the vehicle nor the plates were confiscated as the vehicle was a rental and not owned by the driver
