Growing Covid19 infection rates in Victoria, and now southern NSW, however put this call in question.
Turf Club president Anna Mullins said she can not say for sure at present what will happen regarding the race meeting.
The committee is keeping a close eye on government restrictions, together with correspondence from Racing NSW, before making their next move.
Last Saturday nearby Cowra Jockey Club was able to host members of the general public on their race day with social distancing rules in place, including patrons being asked to remain seated.
On the Turf Club's side is the fact the Cup is a TAB meeting, therefore income from the day is not reliant on gate takings and the day can proceed without a crowd.
While unsure whether they will go ahead and particularly whether the public can attend, the Cootamundra Turf Club is using the lead time to the event wisely, installing a new running rail, given to them by Racing NSW.
Racecourse caretaker Richard Coulton said the rail, which is being installed on the inside of the track, will be safer for jockeys and their mounts in the event of an accident.
Technology in the rail means it is designed to break at the point of impact, cushioning the blow for horse and rider.
Coulton said as well as being safer, it will also be quicker to repair should it be damaged by an impact on race day.
The committee found themselves in this boat at a recent Picnic Races meeting, with the rail damaged and all hands on deck scrambling to repair it before the next race was scheduled to be run.
As well as being safer, the white rail also improves the aesthetic of the track.
Coulton is hoping to finish installation this month.
