Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke is encouraging Cootamundra veterans to take part in digital focus groups to inform the NSW Government's first whole-of-government strategy for veterans and their families in the state.
The strategy will bring together all work being done by government departments and agencies into one coherent statement.
Ms Cooke said it was vital veterans and their families shape government strategy to ensure they are supported and better recognised.
"As a government we have an obligation to look after those people who have served and sacrificed for our nation," Ms Cooke said.
"I am asking all veterans and their families to share their lived experiences, concerns, the challenges they are facing and the services they require so we can shape policy to meet their needs."
"Help shape this strategy to improve not only your experiences, but those of future members of the Defence Forces as they transition in to civilian life."
The south-western region is invited to join a digital focus group on Friday 11 September from 10am-12pm.
Veterans, supporters, family members and service providers can register their interest here: https://www.veterans.nsw.gov.au/about-us/media-releases/2020/08/18/veterans-focus-groups-help-inform-the-development-of-the-very-first-nsw-strategy-for-veterans-and-their-families/
