The NSW government announced today that schools across the state would receive a covid safety plan for year 12 graduations and school formals by the end of this week.
"Year 12 formals are an important milestone for students, and it would not be fair for the current crop of school leavers to miss out on the experience," Ms Cooke said.
"I had several parents and grandparents reach out to me to express how important school formals are not only for students, but for our entire communities.
"Local hairdressers, dress shops, beauticians and other businesses look forward to school formals and helping our young people celebrate this important rite of passage.
"I am so pleased our school leavers will be able to celebrate and come together with their friends as they embark on the next chapter of their lives.
"Our students who are currently studying for their HSC deserve to have something to look forward to after their exams."
Year 12 students requiring a covid test should tell their GP or testing clinic they are currently doing their HSC.
This will ensure their test results are prioritised, minimising any disruption to their schooling and study.
The NSW Government will also provide covid-safe guidance to students wanting to participate in schoolies under the current restrictions and health advice.
