Police have charged a man with illegal drug possession after conducting a random breath test on a back road between Cootamundra and Muttama on Tuesday evening.
Police were doing a rural road patrol along Sheep Station Creek Road, Burra, when the drug discovery and arrest took place.
About a kilometre south of the Brawlin Road intersection they stopped a Toytoa Hilux for a random breath check, at 7.40pm.
As a result of their interactions with the driver and passenger, the police searched the vehicle and found a black metal container hidden inside.
"Located within the metal container were two small plastic bags containing 7.78 grams of methamphetamine," a police statement said.

The driver of the Hilux will appear before Cootamundra Local Court in December.
Acting Inspector Nadine Roberts of Cootamundra Police said "This is a great result and indicative of our commitment to providing a safe community".
"The location of this particular vehicle stop confirms that our police are out patrolling rural roads, towns and communities."
