L&R Group open town pool for longer hours

Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council has outsourced the running of the facility, as well as the Cootamundra Sports Stadium, in the hope the community will benefit.

The first thing Cootamundra residents may notice is the set opening hours, which allow community members to access the the pool for longer.

Summer opening hours are from 6.30am until 8.30am and 11am until 7pm weekdays and 10am until 7pm weekends and public holidays.

Speaking to the Cootamundra Herald, Facility Manager Angus Westaway said they will offer the local community swimming lessons, stroke correction. infants aquatics and water exercise classes as well.

For those residents who travel around the local regions, the new management opens up a door for an 'All access pass' so members can access any of the facilities which fall under L&R Group's management.

Other swimming pools managed include Cobar, Holland Park, Lake Cargelligo and Ungarie.

Mr Westaway has big plans for the facility.

"We will run special events and drive usage at the pool to create a lot of jobs and help local economic activity," he said.

One the cards for the facility is the opening up of the entrance area, a new purpose-built reception area, a retail shop, a kiosk which is open daily and inflatable days.

Being from a regional town, L&R Group are committed to the benefit of regional communities.

To this end, they offer inclusive access programs such as unlimited free entry for people with a disability, and their companion.

They also offer discounted entry for local sporting clubs.

The pool is also abiding by CovidSafe regulations with all casual entrants to sign in each visit.

The pool has a maximum of 300 people able to be in the facility at one time under Covid restrictions, and all patrons are asked to maintain appropriate social distancing.
