The Dragons are now two points clear of Kangaroos in the race for a finals berth after a 26-10 win over Brothers at Equex Centre on Sunday.
Temora haven't played finals for over a decade and coach Josh McCrone was pleased to get one step closer.
Especially after needing to manage the weight of expectations up against their winless rivals.
"It's not a scenario we've been in before - where we are expected to win a game - as we've always been the hunted and this week we were the hunted in more ways than one," McCrone said.
"It was good to be able to start the game well and finish the game well."
Billy Reardon opened the scoring after 12 minutes as Temora created space through their edge and added to their advantage Tyler Madden went through five minutes later.
The Dragons went out to a 16-0 lead after some enterprising play sparked by Bradon Taylor on their left edge before Jock Ward finished it on their right.
However Brothers hit back as Tristan Dickson scored off his own little kick with three minutes left in the half.
The Wagga side then had a good opportunity to start the second half but couldn't crack the Dragons.
McCrone was pleased with how the side responded to start the second half.
"We talked about how they were going to come back at some stage and we would have to dig in and that's the sort of character we are building at the club," he said.
"Not just for this year but we're building for the future of the club in the next five to 10 years.
"We're making small steps in the right direction."
Temora then ensured there would be no Brothers comeback as Madden charged over for his second with 27 minutes to play before a flying Drew Robinson plucked down a James Stewart kick to score.
Harold Kirby scored a consolation effort for Brothers as they slipped to their 13th straight loss of the season.
While their place in the top five is far from locked in the finals do come early for Temora, who take on the top four teams in the last month of the season.
McCrone is looking to extend their good run against Gundagai at Anzac Park on Saturday.
"This last month of footy was always penciled in as being a big month for us so if we get through it with a couple of wins we deserve to be in the finals," he said.
"We'll go out there and give our best again."
However they did pick a couple of injury concerns with both Jock Ward and Nick Trevaskis both falling to finish the clash after being caught by high shots.
It was a source of great frustration for McCrone.
"Everyone wants to come and play a good game of footy no matter what level it is but the game quickly deteriorates when it's not taken control of," he said.
"There were four or five head highs they called but there was more on top of that.
"I got punched and headbutted in one movement and when there is no control taken they wonder why the game deteriorates into not much of a spectacle.
"We're watching our heads as we've got a lot to play for this year and they haven't got much unfortunately so that's not something I would be proud of if it was my club."
