Hundreds more people across the Murrumbidgee Local Health District were officially diagnosed with COVID-19 yesterday as the state continues to grapple with the Omicron outbreak.

On Tuesday, 269 new cases of the virus were reported among residents of the MLHD - almost half of Monday's tally of 500 cases and one death.

This comes as 25,870 new cases were diagnosed across the state, excluding any positive rapid antigen test results.
As of Monday there are 23 patients with COVID in hospital in the MLHD, and there are 4175 active cases of the virus.
