Federal Riverina MP Michael McCormack said assistance was being provided through the jointly funded Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).
"It is a cruel irony that areas suffering from this insidious drought were hit by ferocious storms which did nothing to break the dry spell," Mr McCormack said.
Assistance will be made available for individuals affected by storms on February 5, council looking to make repairs to public assets and and non-profit groups helping with recovery.
The storms caused temporary loss of power to thousands of homes and damaged roads, restricting access to essential supplies and services.

The funding will go towards helping affected individuals, small businesses, primary producers and councils to get back on their feet.
Cootamundra-Gundagai Mayor Abb McAlister said he was pleased that other levels of government had stepped in ease the burden on ratepayers.
"It's good news to be included as we suffered an amount of damage over the minimum amount to recieive funding and the ratepayers won't have to pay for it, the federal and state governments will," he said.
"The flooding was caused by a natural disaster and through no fault of the ratepayers.
"I think any group that is entitled to seek funding should do so, and if anyone is not sure they should make inquiries through the office of Emergency Management."
Individuals can apply for money to help replaced damaged homes or belongings.
There are also concessional interest rate loans for small businesses, primary producers and non-profit organisations; freight subsidies for primary producers and; grants to eligible non-profit organisations.
