Gentleman Max ($9.00) celebrated his 100th race start with a win in the Allure Lashes Open Handicap (1400m).
The win marked Sutherland's 50th winner for the season as he enjoyed a runaway victory in the Southern District Racing Association (SDRA) trainer's premiership.
Sutherland finished 20 wins ahead of his nearest rival to claim a fifth SDRA trainer's premiership, and his third in succession.
"We set ourselves a goal to get 50 winners for the season and we hit it so that's another great achievement from a small country stable," Sutherland said.
"It's a great credit to all my owners and jockeys."
It was only fitting that Blaike McDougall combined with Sutherland to pilot Gentleman Max to victory at the last meeting of the Southern District season.
McDougall was even more dominant in the Southern District jockey's premiership. He completed his first full season out of Albury with his first title, finishing 28 wins ahead of his nearest opponent.
Both Sutherland and McDougall finished the season with winning doubles.
McDougall also scored on Yeldarb ($3.80) for Wangaratta trainer Dan McCarthy.
Lets Get Animal ($11.00) provided Sutherland with his double, winning the GPE Electrical Contractors Class Three Handicap (1175m).
Gentleman Max's win provided owner Leona Watson with an early birthday present and Sutherland was pleased to see the mudlark register his 14th victory at his 100th start.
"He's a grand horse and there's still a lot of racing in front of him," he said.
