In second grade the Strikers finished their match against Junee with a four all draw.
In the ladies competition the girls sit just outside of the top five after last weekend's 3-0 loss at Henwood Park.
This weekend the girls travel to Wagga to take on Wagga United.
In a game with few highlights as well as two missed penalties, the Lions overcame a slow start to lead 1-0 at the break and 2-0 at the final whistle.
Lions coach Mark Mellish said the win "wasn't worth writing home about".
"It was a pretty scrappy game," he said.
"Cootamundra hasn't been playing too well. But they had a good side and they always turn up against Young, it's a bit of a rivalry so it was good to get the three points."

Calum McCaffery opened the scoring before Duncan Cameron doubled the advantage from the penalty spot with about 25 minutes to go.
Both sides failed to convert penalties in the opening stages.
The result leaves Young in the race for a top five space and Cootamundra remain at the bottom of the ladder.
