The ladies inspected the latest improvements to Ellwood's Hall, including the Hall's heritage room.
They had morning tea at the new pump track at the recreation ground, and then enjoyed time with students at the local school where they were shown the newly established chook pen and veggie garden. The visit was topped off with an indulgent lunch at 44 Hibernia, the cafe run by Teresa Baldwin ... an all round delightful day!
The enjoyment of studying history in Stockinbingal has been enhanced with the replacement of story boards throughout the village.
Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council (CGRC) has exchanged the old story boards which were faded and sun-damaged. The 16 new boards are easier to read and enhance the history walks around the village.
Each board faces a site of particular interest, and gives a brief record of the building's history.
CGRC mayor Cr Abb McAlister said he was pleased that council had been able to replace the ageing story boards in Stockinbingal, both for the benefit of the large number of visitors who study the boards as they travel through our region and for the important education they give our youngsters.
"The history of our region is diverse and interesting," Cr McAlister said. "The identity of our towns and villages is often shaped by their historic buildings and by the characters that have lived and worked in them.
"I look forward to having a look at them when I'm next in Stockinbingal."
